Anyone else notice that http://www.gc.ca/ redirects to http://www.canada.ca/?

Did I miss the Harper government™ memo?

Seems to have started December 19, 2013…

I fail to understand how this change is effective for disseminating information — http://www.canada.ca/ is easily confused with http://www.canada.com/, is it not?

I just don’t get it. There was nothing wrong with http://www.gc.ca/. Is http://www.canada.ca/ some stupid attempt to re-brand?

Seems like a waste of time, money, and resources… really. Also, I worry about information being lost in this ridiculous redirect.

Am I the only one who noticed?
