Remember when Alberta Premier Alison Redford said, “It is unfortunate when these events happen. We are fortunate in this province that they don’t happen very often, and we can have some confidence that when they do happen, we have plans in place to deal with them.”?

They don’t happen very often, eh?

3 oil spills in the span of 1 month…

  1. May 19, 2012 — Injection well, maintained by Pace Oil and Gas, 20 kilometres southeast of Rainbow Lake, AB.
  2. June 7, 2012 — Rangeland pipeline, owned by Plains Midstream Canada, near Sundre, AB — about 130 km northwest of Calgary, AB.
  3. June 19, 2012 — Athabasca pipeline, owned and operated by Enbridge, about 25 kilometres southeast of Elk Point, AB.

The exception is, it would seem, steadfast, becoming the norm…
