OK…
LPC 157 : CPC 121 : BQ 32 : NDP 24 : GPC 3 : IND 1 : PPC 0
A Liberal minority government it is, eh Canada.
A Liberal minority government is NOT the worst thing ever.
In fact, w/ the seat count, either the NDP, or the BQ, could effectively hold the balance of power. Minus the sovereignty and xenophobia, the BQ is far more progressive than the NDP on a number of issues, including the environment.
Elections Canada says 17.9M Canadians, or 65.95% of registered voters, cast ballots. That’s disappointing. :(
Also disappointing? Had we implemented Proportional Representation, we’d be looking at a Prime Minister Andrew Scheer this morning… *TWITCH* Not to mention a government made up of a lot of MPs from Maxime Bernier’s People’s Party… and that should scare the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks out of Canadians.
While I’m all for Electoral Reform, perhaps something like Instant-runoff voting [IRV] at the riding level would provide a better sense of democracy than Proportional Representation? Food for, uhm, thought.
We ousted Lisa Raitt.
We also ousted Jane Philpott.
Too bad we didn’t unite to oust Pierre Poilievre, or Jody Wilson-Raybould…
Also, I’m very sad to see Ralph Goodale go. :(
So, welcome to Scheerless Tuesday!
